Updating the firmware

Update the firmware to ensure AI NVR works with the latest software and bug fixes. When you update the firmware, all your current settings and all recorded videos are retained.

Update the firmware in one of the following ways:

  • You can use the Avigilon Cloud Services Cloud Remote Site Upgrade to upgrade:
    • the firmware on AI NVR ,
    • the firmware on all other Avigilon servers, and
    • the ACC client software on all network workstations

at the same location and all at the same time.

A subscription to the Advanced System Health feature package is required. This is Avigilon’s recommended method to perform site-level upgrades quickly and efficiently. You can learn how to upgrade servers in a site in the help files provided with Avigilon cloud services.

  • You can use Remote Site Upgrade from an ACCClient connected to all AI NVR in one site at the same time. You can learn how to upgrade servers at a site in the help files provided with the ACC client.
  • You can use Server Management page with the following procedure.

To update the firmware or reinstall it using Server Management page , download the latest version of the firmware file ( .fp. ) from the Avigilon Support Community .

From an Internet-connected workstation:

  1. Go to avigilon.comand search for the appropriate AI NVR firmware.

Note: To download firmware you must have or create an account and be logged in to the community.

  1. Save the file to a location that the server managementclient machine can access.

To update the firmware from the Server Management page :

  1. Navigate to the device control panel.

If necessary, scroll to display the Update Firmware window;

  1. In the Update Firmwaresection, click Drag FP file here or click to upload and navigate to the location where the firmware package (.fp) file was saved.
  2. Click OKto confirm you want to continue. An upload progress bar appears. Wait for the file to upload and verify.

Important: You can only cancel an ongoing firmware upgrade during the upload and verification phase. ClickCancel Uploadbefore the file has finished uploading.

After the file is verified, the firmware upgrade will start automatically. The device will reboot several times during the upgrade. The message Lost connection to web interface appears while the device is restarting. After the device restarts, the connection to the server management page in your web browser will be restored.

Note: If an error occurs during the upload or update, or if the firmware becomes corrupted, you will be prompted to remove the file.

Updating Panel Firmware

You can upload firmware updates to the panel, activate the new firmware and apply the latest ACM system configuration parameters.

CAUTION — Risk of loss of functionality. It is possible to downgrade to an earlier firmware version by choosing an earlier firmware file. If you do downgrade to an earlier firmware release, functionality provided in later releases will no longer be available, resulting in unexpected behavior. For example, override functionality available for Mercury panels in the ACM software 5.12.2 and later, requires the Mercury firmware version 1.27.1 or later.
  1. On the Panels list, select the panel.
  2. On the Panel: Statuspage, click Firmware.

Note: For IP wireless locks, a firmware update is applied to all locks of the same type managed by the gateway (for example, NDE locks but not LE locks). For offline Wi-Fi locks, a firmware update is applied to the single selected lock.

  1. Do any of the following:
    • Apply a firmware update that is available in the system, click   next to the firmware file.
    • Upload a new firmware update provided by the manufacturer:
      1. Download the firmware file from the manufacturer.
      1. Click Add Firmware.

      1. Click Choose File and select the firmware file.
      1. Click   to upload the firmware file.

Note: If you click  , the Identity Import Type: will be set to Auto and any attached CSV files will be deleted.

      1. On the Firmware list, click   next to the firmware file to apply it to the panel.
    • Delete an existing firmware update, click   next to the firmware file. Click OK to confirm the operation.
