4. Tips

• Always use the latest app and firmware for best results.
• Settings changes often require dashcam reboot—wait until restart completes.
• Back up key videos before resetting or formatting.

Restoring your dashcam’s settings allows you to resolve persistent issues and start fresh with default options, ensuring reliable recording and connectivity for your BlackVue device.

Correcting date/time errors due to firmware or settings

Date and time errors in your BlackVue dashcam can result in incorrect timestamps, recording confusion, or issues with event logging. Use this step-by-step guide to identify the causes and correct date/time problems, whether they’re related to firmware or misconfigured settings.

Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your camera model or app version. Always make sure your dashcam is powered on and connected to a reliable power source during any adjustments.

1. Common symptoms of date/time errors

• Timestamp on recorded videos is incorrect
• Time resets after losing power or firmware update
• Sudden shifts in date/time after GPS sync or SD card format

2. Causes of date/time errors

• Outdated or corrupted firmware
• Incorrect time zone or daylight saving setting
• Disabled/incorrect GPS time sync
• Faulty or depleted RTC (internal battery)
• Problems with the SD card or incomplete settings save

3. Step-by-step solutions

A. Update the firmware

• Ensure your dashcam’s firmware is updated to the latest version.
• Use the BlackVue app or PC Viewer to check for updates; install as needed.
• After updating, reboot the dashcam and proceed to set the time.

B. Set time settings in the app or viewer

• Connect your smartphone to the dashcam via Wi-Fi or Cloud.
• Open the BlackVue app and access camera settings.
• Go to Basic / System Settings > Time Settings.
• For models with GPS:
• Enable “Sync with GPS” for automatic time correction.
• Set your correct time zone (e.g., GMT+9 for Seoul, GMT+0 for London).
• Enable “Daylight Saving Time” if appropriate.
• It may take 10–15 minutes after first driving for GPS time to sync.

5032815288706550328152890009

• For models without GPS:
• Enable “Manual time setting” and enter the correct date/time.
• Double-check the time zone to match your location.

C. Using the Time Setting Program (for PC/Mac)

• Download the official BlackVue Time Setting Program from the BlackVue website.
• Back up your SD card and insert it into your computer.
• Use the utility to set the correct date and time, save the settings, and reinsert the SD card into the dashcam.
• Boot the dashcam to apply new settings.

D. Additional checks for persistent errors

• Try a different, properly formatted SD card if settings are lost after shutdown.
• Manually reset and re-save time settings after a firmware update or card format and restart the dashcam.
• If you continually lose date/time (especially after losing all power):
• Your dashcam’s internal RTC battery may be faulty and need service.
• For warranty or repair, contact BlackVue support with your unit details.

4. Troubleshooting summary table

Symptom Solution
Time/date incorrect Update firmware, check/set time zone, enable GPS sync
Time keeps resetting Try new SD card, check RTC battery if older model
Sync issues with GPS Wait 10–15 min driving; check for signal/interference
Shows wrong time zone Confirm time zone & daylight saving in camera/app settings

5. Tips for best results

• Always use the most recent firmware and BlackVue app versions for maximum compatibility.
• After changing time settings, give the dashcam several minutes to fully save and apply changes.
• When manually entering time, set it to your expected usage time—not the current time during configuration, unless instructed.
• In high-rise areas or garages, GPS sync may be delayed; set time manually if needed for urgent situations.

Prompt correction and proper setup of your dashcam’s date/time ensure reliable recordings and accurate evidence, especially in emergencies or for insurance claims. For hardware-related timekeeping problems, contact BlackVue support.
